More eating adventures

So I never liked Key Lime pie despite the glowing comments made by my peers.  It was too tart for my taste.  We went to this place for dinner yesterday.  I had a shrimp po boy sandwich in honor of one of my favorite characters on Treme a short term series about post Katrina New Orleans.  John Goodman plays a curmudgeonly professor with liberal leanings.  His wife is played by the talented Melissa Leo.  

He eats one of these with relish before the jumps off a bridge to the surprise of the viewers, completing his bucket list.

But enough about sandwiches.  The girls ordered the Key Lime pie after hearing its fine reputation from the locals.  I reluctantly tried a taste.  I was entranced.

The flavor and velvety consistency was amazing.   

Now I âm completely hooked.  So at the end of the meal.  Our server brought out the creator of the pie.  I was so in love, I kissed her hand (to her surprise). She will remember me. (my Cadillac grill, develops 900 degrees in 15 minutes when closed)

Earlier in the day we visited a crafty show at the foot of the local light house.  Saw lots of "cute things" of no interest to me.  But we encounter two ladies making some sort of little pies in tiny aluminum trays.  We stopped to chat and peruse the wares.  A long haired seasoned and decorated lady asked us if we could sample and offer opinions on one of her little cakes, a pineapple upside down with the fruit inside.  It was great.  We bought a couple of things. This was a woman in her 70's that must have been  a real stunner in her youth.  (this is our other traveling partner Pippa)

Later in the day went for ice cream at the local sweet shop.  A middle aged couple climbed from their pickup truck.  The wife inquired gon getcha some ahhscream? i know I am in the south.

As opposed  to where we have been in FL before, Punta Gorda and Pompano Beach, this is a place where people live not necessarily vacation.  Folks are friendly and completely un fancy.  I thought I needed good clothes,  not at all. The pants with the tattered bottoms fit right in.
